Product Description

Sanitary Double-Pig Pigging System

The sanitary double-pig pigging system primarily consists of a sanitary double-pig launcher, two tangent solid pigs, an intermediate stop station, and an automatic recovery station. The modular design allows easy integration into process pipelines.

Suitable for complex processes such as single-source to multi-target pigging. This system effectively avoids cross-contamination between different products. A section of solvent can be sandwiched between the two pigs for high efficiency and low residue recovery, especially in the paint and coating industry.

  • Air is evacuated from the pipeline to prevent product contamination
  • Effectively reducing material waste
  • Recovering 99% plus of the residual in pipeline
  • Automatic control by PLC program, reducing human error
  • No liquid product entering the launcher
  • Minimal liquid product residue
  • Easy to be cleaned with CIP

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a double pig pigging system?
A double-pig system uses two pigs side-by-side to create a physical barrier between different fluid products. It is often used with solvent or cleaning agents between the pigs to remove product from pipe walls or to prevent product contact with air.
2. What types of pigging stations are available?
There are manual launching and receiving stations for economical recovery, and automatic stations (including sterile/aseptic models) that can be cleaned via CIP/SIP for high-hygiene industries like food and medicine.
3. Why is it called a "pipeline pig"?
The name comes from the sharp, squealing sound made by early projectile scrapers as they moved through the pipeline, which resembled the sound of a pig's cry.
4. What is the recovery efficiency of these systems?
The hygienic automatic product recovery systems can recover more than 99.5% of the residual liquid during pipeline pigging.
5. Can these systems be integrated into existing CIP processes?
Yes, the systems are designed for hygienic applications and are CIP (Clean-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilize-In-Place) capable to meet strict industry standards.
6. What materials are used for the pigging equipment?
The launchers and receivers are typically constructed from high-grade SUS316L stainless steel to ensure sanitary conditions.
